    Davern Workwear Asbestos

A businessman in England has recently passed away from Mesothelioma. David Dobson was the co-founder of Davern Workwear and was 68-years-old.

David is suspected to have been exposed to asbestos during the time that his factory produced protective equipment and clothing for people who worked with asbestos since during this time he came in contact with many workers in the asbestos industry.

He was diagnosed with Mesothelioma in September 2008 and had numerous surgeries to remove the linings of his organs, including his heart sack and lungs. He also had other cancer treatments that were made available to him, but sadly these treatments did not cure the cancer.

If you or a loved one have been diagnosed with Mesothelioma cancer don’t hesitate to contact a lawyer and get yourself on the path you need to be on to get yourself the compensation you deserve and the money that will help you pay for treatments.

    School Bus Asbestos

Joe Hoffer, a teacher in Michigan, has passed away after being diagnosed with Mesothelioma cancer. Joe was 61-years-old and was a former board president for the Holland Public Schools and the Ottawa Area Intermediate School District.

Joe blamed his Mesothelioma on being exposed to asbestos during a summer job in a furnace factory while he was in college.

The Holland school’s Superintendent, Karan McPhee remembers Joe: “Joe always demonstrated a special place in his heart for students who struggled and students who needed some alternatives to how they were going to find success. Joe was one of the good guys who cared deeply about people, personally and professionally. His soft spot was for students who, for whatever reason, needed non-traditional ways to earn a diploma, which he believed were so important.”

While school board member Kevin Clark says of Joe: “On the board, he was kind of a story teller, and it was a great style,” Clark said. “He was a good leader. He cared deeply for the school district and kids. It doesn’t get any better than that. His fingerprints are still all over Holland Public Schools.”

Memorial donations can be made to International Mesothelioma Program, 75 Francis St., Boston, MA, 02115.

    Asbestos Samples

Maureen Ryder recently passed away in England due to what her husband claims was Secondhand Asbestos Exposure, which led to Mesothelioma Cancer.

Maureen’s husband, Trevor, worked at Norton Abrasives, the largest manufacturer and supplier of abrasives for commercial applications and technical manufacturing, from 1963 to 1985.

He says that he was unknowingly exposed to asbestos dust while at work. When Trevor came home at the end of each day his wife would brush the dust off of his clothing – exposing herself to the harmful, and in this case deadly, fibers.

Trevor said, “She would brush the dust from my clothes every evening and then hand wash them ready for the next day.”

Secondhand asbestos exposure is heard of – it is when asbestos fiber particles travel into the home from a persons clothing or skin who has been exposed to it. The friends and family inside the home unknowingly inhale or ingest the fibers, where they remain until years later Mesothelioma Cancer or other complications can develop.

Trevor is seeking Mesothelioma Compensation for his wife’s death.

    Kansas City Citadel Plaza Asbestos

The Citadel Plaza in Kansas City is heavily contaminated with asbestos, to the point where something as simple as mowing the grass could pose serious public health risks. There are dangerous asbestos fibers that would cause anyone in the area to have to wear protective masks and respirators if any of the fibers were to become airborne.

The reason these fibers may be disturbed is that the Kansas City officials are hoping to develop the area, however they are not sure they want to spend the huge amount of money, around $300,000, it may cost to remove the asbestos from the area. Currently the City Council has been meeting to debate the development project.

Do you think Kansas City should spend the money to tear down the buildings and put new buildings up, or do you think they should leave the potentially dangerous building up and save money?

It looks like Kansas is having the same problem as San Francisco…click here to read that story.

    Asbestos

Indiana school teacher Terry Nelson recently handed in her resignation and retirement letter after backlash resulting from her exposing students to asbestos in the school.

Nelson was a journalism teacher and an advisor at the Central High School in Muncie, Indiana. During her time there she had two students conduct tests to determine the presence of loose asbestos on the school property so they could write a story about it. The asbestos was brought into the science classroom and therefore the students were exposed to the fiber without the proper safety precautions. This put the students at risk of developing asbestos-related diseases, including Mesothelioma cancer.

The school board and administrators thoroughly reprimanded Nelson and she believed that it was best for her to leave the school system. She was afraid she was going to get fired, and instead decided to leave on her own terms.

    Yorkshire England Pleural Plaques

The Government in England is talking with the Yorkshire county in order to try to set up a new national center to work towards finding a cure for cancer caused by asbestos. In addition, doctors in Yorkshire are fighting to get victims of pleural plaques the rights and compensation they deserve, and ministers are preparing to release a report on whether or not this will happen.

Those fighting for compensation believe that those with pleural plaques are more likely to develop Mesothelioma later in life and believe that they should receive compensation for the stress that causes.

Those with pleural plaques were able to apply for compensation until 2007 when the laws changed.

What do you think should happen?
