Pleural Mesothelioma
Pleural Mesothelioma is also referred to as Mesothelioma of the Pleura. Pleura is a thin tissue surrounding the lungs which exists to protect the lungs during breathing. Pleural Mesothelioma is a tumor that has attached itself to an individuals lung lining. There are two types of Pleural Mesothelioma, which are Benign and Malignant.
Benign Pleural Mesothelioma
Benign Pleural Mesothelioma is a non-cancerous tumor that has attached itself to an individuals lung lining. Symptoms of this tumor can be pain or shortness of breath since it’s size may cause the lung to be pushed upon and not be able to expand freely.
Malignant Pleural Mesothelioma
Malignant Pleural Mesothelioma is a cancerous tumor that has either attached itself to an individuals lung lining or has traveled to another part of the body. Malignant Pleural Mesothelioma is not known to always be found in the same area, and can be found multiple places in the body.
Symptoms of Pleural Mesothelioma
Apart from shortness of breath, which was already discussed, there are other symptoms that an individual may encounter if they have Pelural Mesothelioma. These symptoms can include pain in the lungs, pain in the chest and pain in the back. Individuals with Pleural Mesothelioma may also swell in the facial area, experience weakness in the muscles, and cough up blood.
Pericardial Mesothelioma
Pericardial Mesothelioma is a type of cancer that rests in the sac surrounding the heart. Testing for Pericardial Mesothelioma can be difficult. To test for the cancer a doctor may need to open up the chest cavity of the individual in order to take a sample of fluid from the sac surrounding the heart ino rder to test it.
Symptoms of Pericardial Mesothelioma
Symptoms of the Pericardial Mesothelioma cancer can include shortness of breath and chest pain. These symptoms are caused by the weight of the cancer and the cancer fluid resting between the heart and the sac around the heart, which puts pressure on the organs of the individual
Cell Type Mesothelioma
Cell Type Mesothelioma cancer refers to the type of tissue where the first cancerous cell develops, which can range anywhere from the lining of the abdomen to the lining of the lung and the lining of the heart.
Peritoneal Mesothelioma
Peritoneal Mesothelioma is a type of cancer that sits in the abdominal lining. One way to determine if an individual is affected by Peritoneal Mesothelioma is to have a doctor take a sample of the built up fluid in the individauls abdomen and test it in a lab. Another way to determine if an individual has Peritoneal Mesothelioma a doctor will make a cut in the patients abdomen wall and explor the abdominal cavity.
Symptoms of Peritoneal Mesothelioma
Symptoms of the Peritoneal Mesothelioma can include fluid in the individuals abdomen or abdominal cavity, pain in the stomach, noticalbe weight loss, nausea and vomiting.
